With the Supreme Court intervening and public uproar mounting over the proposal to auction 400 acres of land at Kancha Gachibowli, the Telangana Government has formed a high-level committee to hold consultations with the Hyderabad Central University leadership, agitating students and civil society groups.

The committee will comprise Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy.

“The committee will hold discussions with the Executive Committee of the University, the Joint Action Committee, civil society groups, students, and all other stakeholders to resolve the issue,” Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said in a post ‘X’.

The Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) decision to auction the land triggered public outcry, with students, environmental activists and Opposition parties taking strong exception to clearing of the land, destroying flora and fauna in the area.

Taking cognizance of the destruction, the Supreme Court has directed the Telangana High Court Registrar to submit a report. It later stayed clearing of trees in the area.
