Civil defence mock drills held at Chennai airport, several other sites in Tamil Nadu

A civil defence mock drill to assess and ensure the preparedness for emergency scenarios was held at the Chennai airport on Friday evening. The exercise involved multiple agencies, including State police, NDRF, State fire brigade, airlines, ground handling agencies, hospitals, ambulance services, along with CISF and Airports Authority of India. The drill aimed to ensure effective coordination and response in emergency situations, says a release.

A similar exercise, as advised by the Ministry of Home Affairs, was held at Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant, Kudankulam, Tirunelveli District and in North Chennai Thermal Power Station, Unit-2, Athipattu, says a release.

On Saturday evening, a similar exercise will be undertaken at VO Chidambaranar port and at Thoothukudi Thermal Power Station, the release said.
