Viswam.ai, an AI venture started by the IIIT-H and Swecha, will organise a two-day AI Days 2025 conference here on April 12 and 13.

This conference will have technology leaders and AI enablers discussing the latest topics in the field of AI and Generative AI .

“AI innovation focuses on solving challenges specific to India and the Global South,” Y Kiran Chandra, the Centre Head of Viswam.ai, has said.

The conference will be attended by over 2,000 participants, who include developers, architects, startups, tech leaders and policy makers.

On day one, the conference will focus on building solutions through Masterclasses by senior AI leaders and workshops on the latest AI tools and technologies. The second day will see industry leaders and policy makers brainstorming on community sourcing of data, creating India’s own LLMs.

P J Narayanan, Director of IIIT Hyderabad, said that AI was creating an interesting situation where global research and industry adoption are happening almost simultaneously. This, he said, was bridging the time and space between research and industry.

“The availability of AI technologies in regional languages is not merely a pathway for greater adoption at scale by the common  people. It is a lifeline for the survival of these languages in an era where technology permeates every facet of daily life,” Kiran Chandra said.

“Data, as the cornerstone of AI, must mirror this diversity, ensuring systems are built with and for the communities they serve. The conference will discuss issues like these that are pertinent for the Global South,” he said.

Telangana IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu will inaugurate the conference.

The conference would discuss topics like – India’s own LLMs, building low-cost AI, and data privacy and policy. Soumith Chintala, Co-Founder of PyTorch; Srini raju, Chairman of iLabs Capital; Renata Avila, CEO of Open Knowledge Foundation; Rohit Chennamaneni, Co-Founder of Darwinbox; and Chaitanya Chokkareddy, CTO of Ozontel, would take part in deliberations.
